What is TRE®?

TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) is a modern body-based practice designed to help release stress, tension, and nervous system overload through the body’s natural tremoring response.

The TRE® process uses a series of 7 simple exercises that gently stretch and mildly fatigue the lower body muscles in order to activate neurogenic tremors — a natural reflex mechanism that helps the body discharge deep muscular tension and calm the nervous system.

Many people have learned to suppress or override this natural response while pushing through stress, pressure, and everyday life.

One of the unique aspects of TRE® is that each participant learns how to physically and emotionally self-regulate throughout the process, allowing the experience to feel safe, empowering, and adaptable to individual comfort levels.

The exercises can also be modified to support people with injuries, limited mobility, or physical restrictions, making TRE® accessible to a wide range of individuals.

Is TRE® Safe?

TRE® is considered safe when practiced responsibly and learned with proper guidance.

Self-regulation is one of the most important parts of the TRE® process. This means learning how to slow down, pause, or stop the tremoring process whenever needed.

In the Intro to TRE Workshops and private sessions, participants learn:

  • the foundational exercises

  • nervous system awareness

  • grounding techniques

  • self-regulation skills

  • how to work with their body safely and comfortably
